Gardens that
bring Colorado's wildlife home

Imagine stepping outside your door to hummingbirds hovering over native flowers, monarch butterflies floating through your garden and songbirds nesting in your shrubs. Colorado Native Landscapes & Design specializes in designing certified wildlife habitat gardens that make this a reality for Front Range homeowners.

We select native plants specifically for their ecological function — which species provide nectar for which pollinators, which plants host caterpillar species that support songbird populations and how to create a four-season habitat that supports wildlife year-round, not just in summer.

Janice has helped many Front Range clients achieve Certified Wildlife Habitat status through the National Wildlife Federation — a recognition that your garden provides the four essential elements wildlife need: food, water, cover and places to raise young.

Attract songbirdsNative plants provide the seeds, berries and insects that Colorado's songbirds depend on — creating a yard full of bird activity year-round.

Support pollinatorsMonarch butterflies, native bees and hummingbirds all depend on specific native plants — we design gardens that support entire pollinator communities.

Four-season habitatProperly designed habitat gardens provide food, shelter and nesting sites across all four seasons — not just a summer show.

Common questions
Frequently asked
questions
Which plants attract hummingbirds in Colorado?
Colorado hummingbirds are particularly attracted to tubular red and orange flowers. Native plants like Salvia, Penstemon, Agastache and Monarda are hummingbird magnets that also happen to be beautifully ornamental. We design plantings that provide a continuous nectar source from early spring through fall.
How do I get my garden Certified Wildlife Habitat?
The National Wildlife Federation's Certified Wildlife Habitat program requires that your garden provide food, water, cover and places to raise young for local wildlife. We design gardens that meet all four criteria and help you complete the certification application. It's a meaningful way to recognize your garden's ecological contribution.
