How it all started
From Bow Mar lawns
to 25 years of craft
It started simply — mowing lawns in Bow Mar as a kid. That early work turned into a real landscape and lawn service business through high school and college, running alongside studies at Colorado State University where the formal education in landscape design and construction gave language and structure to something that was already a passion.
From 1995 to 2018, a long career with several respected companies across Vail, Denver and Fort Collins built something that no classroom alone could — real-world experience managing, constructing, designing, estimating and logistically planning projects of every scale and complexity. Every job added to a deep, practical knowledge of materials, construction processes and what it truly takes to bring a landscape from concept to completion.
In 2018, Colorado Native Landscapes & Design was founded — built on that combined foundation of education, craft and a genuine love for the industry. The ability to walk a property and immediately see its potential — to understand the right plant, the right patio, the right element for the right space, scale and size — comes from decades of doing exactly that work, in exactly this part of Colorado.

Colorado Native Landscapes & Design was founded on a simple but powerful belief — that the outdoor environments we build should work with Colorado’s climate, not against it. Every project we take on is designed to thrive here, last for decades and reflect the natural character of the Front Range.
We take on multi-element projects ranging from design and planning, irrigation systems and large-scale residential builds to concrete walls, soil amendments and installing plants that add seasonal interest and dimension to your landscape. From 3,000 to 86,000+ square foot properties — we bring the expertise, the vendor relationships and the daily communication to make complex projects seamless.
Our clients are educated homeowners who have a clear vision of what they want — and the experience to recognize the difference between a contractor who cares and one who doesn’t. We built Colorado Native Landscapes & Design specifically to serve that client.

Our approach to every project
🌿 Local plant knowledge built over 25 years
We source plants through vendors we have deep, long-term relationships with — which means we can suggest the right species for your specific microclimate, soil type, sun exposure and water budget. Not what looks good at the garden center — what actually thrives in Colorado for decades.
We also suggest alternative materials — permeable pavers, cover crops and low-water-use plants — to reduce water consumption and create landscapes that are genuinely sustainable, not just labeled that way.

Most landscape companies handle one or two things well. We built Colorado Native Landscapes & Design specifically to coordinate the full scope — design, hardscape, irrigation, planting, drainage and trade partner coordination — all under one contract.
