Why native plants?

Colorado plants built for
Colorado's climate

Native plants evolved over thousands of years to thrive in Colorado's specific soil conditions, elevation, temperature swings and rainfall patterns. They don't just survive here — they belong here.

When you replace a traditional lawn with Colorado native plants, you're not just cutting your water bill — you're creating a living ecosystem that supports local birds, pollinators and wildlife while looking beautiful through every season.

Janice's CSU degree in landscape design means every plant we select is chosen with deep knowledge of how it will perform in your specific yard — your soil type, your sun exposure, your microclimate. Not just how it looks in a nursery.

The result? A landscape that gets more beautiful every year as plants establish, spread and fill in — with less water, less maintenance and less cost than a traditional lawn.

Common questions
Native planting
FAQ
Will native plants look as good as a traditional lawn?
Absolutely — and often better. Native landscapes feature wildflowers, ornamental grasses, shrubs and perennials that provide color, texture and interest across all four seasons. Unlike a lawn that struggles in summer drought, native plants look their best when the heat is on.
How long until native plants are established?
Most native plants establish fully within 1-2 growing seasons. During that period we recommend some supplemental watering — after that, Colorado's natural rainfall is typically sufficient. We provide you with a detailed establishment watering schedule.
Will my HOA approve a native plant landscape?
We have extensive experience designing HOA-approved native landscapes across the Front Range. We know which plants meet common HOA requirements and submit design packages on your behalf — quickly and without issues.
Can I phase the project — start small and add more later?
Absolutely. We design every project with phasing in mind. Many clients start with the front yard, then add a side yard or backyard in subsequent seasons. We plan it so each phase looks complete and intentional on its own.
